Civic Space GPS

In an open and healthy civic space, civil society groups and individuals are able to organize, participate, and communicate freely. And, at the same time, claim their rights and influence the political and social structures around them.

Throughout 2021 and 2022, the Igarapé Institute mapped the main strategies for closing civic space, as well as the institutional responses and resistance actions presented by civil society groups to contain setbacks, through daily monitoring of media outlets.
